The Spring Festival, also called Chinese New Year, is one of the most important festivals in China. It usually comes in January or February.
春节，也叫中国新年，是中国最重要的节日之一。它通常在 1 月或 2 月到来。
Before the festival, people clean their houses. It is said that it can get rid of bad luck. On New Year's Eve, families get together for a big dinner. They eat dumplings, fish, and other delicious food. Children are very happy because they can get red envelopes with money from their parents and relatives.
On Lunar New Year's Day, people visit their friends and relatives, saying "Happy New Year!" to each other. Red is a lucky colour, so people often wear red clothes and decorate their homes with red paper cuttings.
